HireAI: Revolutionizing Recruitment with AI
How We Built a Viral Recruitment Platform with Tinder-Style Swiping at 100x Buildathon
Ever wondered what happens when you combine AI-powered candidate matching with the addictive simplicity of Tinder? That's exactly what we created with HireAI during the 100x Buildathon in Bangalore. Our recruitment platform didn't just match candidates – it made the entire hiring process intuitive, intelligent, and surprisingly viral among participants.
The Challenge We Tackled
Traditional recruitment feels like finding a needle in a haystack. Recruiters spend countless hours sifting through resumes, while talented candidates get overlooked due to keyword mismatches. We built HireAI to bridge this gap using artificial intelligence that understands context, not just keywords.
What Made HireAI Special
- Natural Language Job Matching: Recruiters could describe ideal candidates in plain English
- Viral Tinder-Style Swiping: Our breakthrough feature that had everyone talking
- 360° Candidate Profiles: AI-powered insights from LinkedIn, GitHub, and social media
- Predictive Analytics: Success predictions based on historical hiring data
- Autonomous Outreach: AI-generated personalized messages that actually got responses
Technical Innovation
Built with Next.js, PostgreSQL with pgvector for AI similarity search, and custom embedding models. Our biggest challenge? Deploying a 4GB+ Flask AI service that ended up running on a laptop connected to venue WiFi – a creative solution that somehow worked!
The Results
While we cleared qualifiers but didn't advance beyond semifinals, our Tinder-style candidate swiping feature went viral among participants. Sometimes the crowd knows better than the judges, and sometimes the simplest ideas are the ones that stick.
Key Learnings
This buildathon taught me that building great technology is only half the battle. Understanding markets, customer needs, and business fundamentals are equally crucial. Most importantly, it showed me the power of creating intuitive user experiences that people actually want to use.
